Introduction

At the SB(R)Net Kick-Off meeting in November 2004, the initial members identified Dynamic Systems as one key element of Systems Biology.

Dynamic Systems add two additional dimensions to the modelling task of system biologists, which are time and space. Therefore, techniques will have to be developed which cope with the statistical analysis of highly dependend variables. Dynamic Systems incorporate spatial models as well as the dynamics of e.g. metabolic or gene regulatory networks.
